most positive results of industrialization and two of the worst results of industrialization for pacific rim countries
industrialization is the process that happens when a country goes from mostly farming (agrarian) to one that produces goods (for example things made in factories like clothing, housewares, building materials, and lots of other stuff). can you think of any reasons why industrialization would be a good thing for a poor society that mainly survives on what it can grow? (and is at the mercy of the weather, good growing seasons and bad?) what effect might it have on people's lives, jobs, families, and standard of living? hint: for some countries on the pacific rim, the effect has been major and has changed the countries entirely. on the other side, can you think of some things that might be bad about factories suddenly springing up everywhere? what effect might it have on people's lives, jobs, families, and way of life? would native cultures and their traditions disappear? keep in mind that factories often pay cheap wages in underdeveloped countries, because the people are desperate enough to work very hard for low amounts of money. it can take a while before industrialization takes over a country so much that the entire country is lifted economically. what about the environmental impact?
