What will happen to a diabetic with a long term A1C of 11.7? Normal is 4.5, would they die?

For someone with diabetes, it's very important to keep the A1C level BELOW 7%.

11.7% is VERY high. Totally out-of-control diabetes.
There would DEFINITELY be complications.

If the blood sugar clogs up the blood vessels, it could lead to heart failure, or stroke.
And that would definitely be fatal.
