Dont understand how: 2-2sin^2x divided by 2 equals cos^2x ?? (^2 means squared)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

2-2sin^2x divided by 2 is the same as 2/2 - (2sin^2x)/2 and that turns into 1 - sin^2x

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

does that help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i see now: both numbers 2 in numerator cancel out with number 2 in denominator so you are left with 1 - 1sin^2x which is is cos^2x. thanks
