so far what i did was cancel out the y^2 and ended up with x^2=8..which i broke down to x=4sqrt2...then i got lost

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know i should end up with 6 numbers..i can't see how to get that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i mean 8 numbers...which seems even harder

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=+3 and y=-3; x=sqrt-2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did you get that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x^2 + y^2 =7 - let this be equation 1 x^2 - y^2 = 1 - this is equation 2 from eq. 1, x^2 = 7 - y^2 substitute value of x^2 in eq. 2 7 - y^2 - y^2 = 1 -2*y^2 = -6 y^2 = 3 y = +3 and -3 now just substitute value of y, and get result for x.

ohhh. so what i was doing was wrong? i had it like this: |dw:1363485797443:dw|
