OpenStudy (goformit100):

|dw:1363486860489:dw|

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

remember area of triangle is 1/2 base times height for the first one :) so instead of 24 it would be 1/2(4)(6) 1/2 of 24 add THAT to your area of the trapezoid

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Erg!! I'm always backwards!!! So the 2nd is 42.5? @johnweldon1993

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Took a shot at this one -_-

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

yeah that looks correct for the second one and for the first one A² + B² = C² right? 4² + b² = 8² 16 + b² = 64 b² = 48 √48 is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6.92820323

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

right...so that will be your height now....so your area of the triangle is 1/2 base times height 1/2(4)(6.92820323) is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

13.85640646 haha

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

right lol....okay...so you have your height for the trapezoid now too right? so remember your area formula for that ((base 1 + base 2)/2) times height... what do we get when all those numbers are plugged in?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

24 was base 1 right? Jeez it's late! lol

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

well where'd you get the 24 from? lol don't stress it :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm horrible at thiss!! -_-

OpenStudy (anonymous):

24 comes from the small triangle thing on the right side. hah

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

lol well remember we already calculated the triangle area...alll we care about now...is that square part of the trapezoid

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

in this case.....take that triangle out of the problem for the moment all we want is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

bahahah ok. Sorry! I'm like dead. In the brain. lol

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

|dw:1363487639643:dw| this is what we have the area of that part of the trapezoid is ((7 + 7)/2) times 6.92820323 which is?

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

and no lol...your getting it :) dont worry about it :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

48.49742261

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

good....so we have 2 areas....now add them together :) and you'll see your answer was indeed correct :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got 62.35382907

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhhhh I GOTCH IT I GOT IT I GOTCHA I GOT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D THANK YOUTHANK TYANKYOUTHANKYOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm liking 36sqrt(3) for the 1st one. Sorry if someone answered that already, I didn't read all the responses.

OpenStudy (raden):

for number 5 the formula to get area of a kite is area = 1/2 * d1 * d2 according ur diagram, given d1= (2.5+2.5) = 5 and d2 = 2.5 + 6 = 8.5 so, area of that kite = 1/2 * 5 * 8.5 = 21.25

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haah! I just figured it out! The party ended. You arrieved late :P lol!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@RadEn jeez! so i was right! thank you!! :D

OpenStudy (raden):

yes, you are right, then the answer is not 42.5

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

lol sorry for the late reply....your welcome :)...and yeah check that kite one again as @RadEn said
