Ok, so Im studying for a precalc quiz and my teacher told us to study some questions but I really need help with them :(
|dw:1363533837336:dw| this is the kite problem we have an angle...we have a hypotenuse..we want the opposite side....so what trig function uses opposite...and hypotenuse?
Sin
alright...and we know sin is opposite / hypotenuse we dont know the opposite so we have \[\sin 46 = o/119\] and we want o...so use algebra to turn this into sin46 times 119 = o what is that?
85.60
right...that's your height...makes sense too because if the person is 46 degrees away....an has the line tight....it will be longer right? but if that person were to stand directly under the kite....the line wouldn't be tight right? so he would roll up the line and find that when he stops the kite is 85.60 ft high
Perfect, thanks John
no problem...and as i said before ill keep thinking about the plane lol
Haha okay
because i believe...for that plane..you need to break it up into it's x and y components (like in physics) but if your in pre-calc I don't think that's necessary.... but...here goes anyways y-component ( means we only want how fast is is traveling UP! not over) we do sin(18) times 368 which is 113.7182539 since that is how fast the plane is traveling UP! in ft/s...and we want it to travel 10189 ft up 10189/113.7182539 is 89.6 seconds....I'm not sure.... anyone else here clarify this for us lol
It's right, I checked! Thank you veryyyy much :D
ahh okay lol..nothing like applying a little physics to it :) haha see even tired people can do math :D your very welcome...feel free to message me or fan me for anymore help :)
Youre the best!
Bye :D
haha glad to help :) have a good day :)
