Find all solutions to the equation. (sin x)(cos x) = 0

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

its really a case of when does sin(x) = 0 and cos(x) = 0 if either one is zero... then the left hand side of the equation is zero so for sin(x) = 0 x = 0, 180 or 360 cos(x) = 0 x = 90, 270 if you need measurements in radians just do the conversions.

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

you may need the general solutions as there is no specified domain.

Which one is it? Four choices: a. {npi|n=0,+-1,+-2, ...}, b. {pi/2+npi, npi|n=0,+-1,+-2, ...}, c. {pi/2+2npi|n=0,+-1,+-2, ...}, d. {pi/2+npi|n=0,+-1,+-2, ...}

OpenStudy (zehanz):

sin x = 0 has solutions npi cos x = 0 thas solutions pi/2 + npi Combine the two, and you have a solution at n * pi/2. Appearently, the chioces do not use this and give the two series of solutions as separate series. It is b) then, because it gives all the solutions.

Thanks!
