how to begin with java programming? what kind of application should i learn first? i've though about ordinary desktop apps. what library in java will be proper to do this? maybe somebody has interesting websites with courses, tutorials etc.? thanks!

i recommend you to watch http://www.youtube.com/user/thenewboston there you'll find a lots of videos to watch. if you want to code desktop apps i recommend you to learn c#, you can download the tools for free in microsoft msdn website. :D

Pick up a book on Java. Then find a project you'd like to work on and dive in.
