The median of the data set is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im trying to get the picture c:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

mean = average median = middle (number right in the middle of data set, 11 numbers from 1-11, therefore middle number is 6) with 10 numbers use formula M = 0.5 ( n) where M is median, 0.5 is Q2 is quartile 2 which is the middle of the data set and n is the # of elements in data set, look @ this site http://www.purplemath.com/modules/meanmode.htm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So, how would i do this ?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

how many leafs you got?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

uh, 5? O.o

OpenStudy (amistre64):

no, there are 5 leafs in the top row, 5 leafs in the 2nd row ... how many leafs are in the leaf section entotal?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

31?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i get 31 as well, so lets divide that in half, and if a decimal round up

OpenStudy (amistre64):

would you agree that 31/2 = 15.5, so we want the number 16

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, but 16 is not an answer choice. the choices are 54, 57, 62, and 65

OpenStudy (amistre64):

16 gets us to the answer ....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, sorry O.o

OpenStudy (amistre64):

we want the 16th leaf ... so start counting in the top left portion of the leaf section and going to the right, count off 16 leafs .... dropping a row as needed

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its 7, right?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

|dw:1363553070311:dw| the 16th leaf is a 7 yes, so attach its stem to it to see its value stem is 5 right? so we get 57
