Can someone explain to me what a joule is?? thanks!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Joule is unit of work done or unit of energy if you take a 1kg mass and lift it up all the way to the top of your head assuming that you are somewhat around 1.2 meters... the work you would have done = mgh = 12joules ..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A Joule is a standard unit for measuring energy and is equivalent to the kinetic energy of a 1-kg object moving at 1 m/s. The joule is a convenient unit of energy usually in astronomy because of how closely related it is to the watt. It was named after the 19th century English physicist James Joule.
