factor out 2x^2+13x+15 & 8x^2-11x+3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(2x +3)(x+5) for 2x^2 + 13x + 15 and (4x + 1)(2x -3) for 8x^2 - 11x + 3

You cant explain how?

Think of it this way what are the two numbers that make 2x^2? Only answer is 2x and x. What two numbers multiply to be 15? 3 & 5 or 15 & 1. 15 & 1 can't be the answer because it makes too large of numbers (it makes 30x + x or 10x + 2x) Neither makes 13x. So 3 & 5 must be your answer. 2x * 5 = 10x + 3x = 13x
