Using all the terms provided here, construct a food chain of your own. Make sure to show the flow of energy in your food chain. Terms to use include producer, herbivore, carnivore, omnivore, and decomposer. (1 point)
Thank you. This is what I got: Eagle(consumer,carnivore) > Snake(consumer,carnivore) > Mice(consumer,carnivore) > Bees(consumer, herbivore) > Plant(producer) Do you know how I would fit decomposers/omnivores into this food chain?
Omnivores eat both plants and animals, so they would fall off to the side of the food chain or food web as an outlier. As for decomposes, they basically devour all wastes. So, they would fall on the very very bottom of the food chain or food web.
So something like earthworms, perhaps? I just don't know how to put it in the chain. Maybe like: Eagle(consumer, carnivore) > Snake(consumer, carnivore) > Mice(consumer, carnivore) > Bees(consumer, herbivore) > Plant(producer,*consumer) > Soil Nutrients > Earthworms(decomposers)? *consumer because plants consume soil nutrients?
Earthworms do decompose. Soil bacteria also decompose.
