help simplifying Distributive Property 1. Simplify −(6p + 12) 2. Simplify 1/2(g − 16) 3. Simplify −3(d − 3) + 5d

OpenStudy (shane_b):

What part of this is giving you trouble? You're simply distribution the outer term to both of the inner terms

OpenStudy (toxicsugar22):

1. is -6p+12

OpenStudy (toxicsugar22):

sorry -6p-12

OpenStudy (toxicsugar22):

2 is 1/2g-8 I think

OpenStudy (shane_b):

@toxicsugar22: If you're going to spew out answers, you should at least explain them :) http://openstudy.com/code-of-conduct

OpenStudy (toxicsugar22):

soory I am bad at explaining things

OpenStudy (shane_b):

@cool987654321: Do you want me to walk you through the first one?

OpenStudy (toxicsugar22):

ok sure thanks

OpenStudy (shane_b):

That's why I said @cool987654321 :) \[−(6p + 12) \]This is the same as \[(-1)(6p + 12) \]Distribute (multiply) the outer term (-1) to both inner terms to get:\[(-1)(6p)+(-1)(12)\]Simplify to get:\[-6p-12\]

OpenStudy (shane_b):

The other 2 problems are done the same exact way.

OpenStudy (toxicsugar22):

hey shane will you help me after you help this

OpenStudy (toxicsugar22):
