Help me please!!!!!! x-4y=-4 3x+10y=30 what quadrant would this be in?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if x-4 = -4, then you want to find what x is, right? so, to isolate "x", what should you do?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you add it to both sides?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

correct! =) you can plot x as zero on the graph, now. you remember where 0 is on the number line =)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now for y... if x = 0, how should we solve the equation for y? Remember that we want to isolate y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you divide y?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

correct! 3(0) + 10y = 30 10y = 30 divide "10" to both sides... y = 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now you can plot your "y" =)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh! so its in the 2nd quadrant right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or in the middle... because x is 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hello?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it will look like this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, i know, but what quadrant is that? its in the middle!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think if it's in the middle, it would be considered in-between quadrants. if so, this point would be considered "on the vertical baseline between quadrant I and II"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, thanks!
