the 1st one is the difference of 2 squares since there are only 2 terms... what are both squares then factored form is (x -6)(x+6) = 0 the 2nd question need to be rewritten as \[x^2 -8x + 12 = 0\] this can be factored.... you need to find the factors of 12 that add to -8, both factors are negative then the factored form of the equation is (x + factor 1)(x + factor 2) = 0 does this make sense..
