OpenStudy (deadshot):

What is the simplified form of the quantity x squared minus 9 over the quantity x minus 3 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\frac{ x^2-9 }{ x-3 }\] ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well im asking if that is the question, typed out correctly because if so this is a simple factoring problem. Take the x^2-9 and factor that out into (x+3)(x-3) so this becomes \[\frac{ (x+3)(x-3) }{ (x-3) }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the x-3's cancel out and you are left with just the (x+3) as your answer
