Both great and terrible.

A nations wealth is measured in a thing called GDP, if we're going by the total sum, great, China is doing fantastic and they're #2 in the world right now (US is #1, despite what your schoolmates are telling you about how our country sucks) but when you look at the per capita rate (Basically per person) China is doing awful, they're #91 with a per capita of about $9,000, compare this to the United States that's at a per capita of $48,328 and you can understand how it's difficult to consider China a threat economically speaking.
