picture a pattern block pattern consisting of red, red, red, green, green, yellow, green, green, red, red, red. If this pattern were continued, what color would the 586th piece be? How many of each color would be used when the 586th piece was added?

OpenStudy (rc94):

Think of it as multiples of 11, as after 11 colours the pattern begins again. (that is providing that after red, red, red is another set of red, red, red)

OpenStudy (rc94):

In this way we see that 586 / 11 = 53 remainder 3, so it will be the third colour of this sequence (red)

OpenStudy (rc94):

we also know that for each set of 11 we have 6 red, 4 green and a yellow. Since we have 53 sets of 11 we will have 318 red, 212 green and 53 yellows, PLUS the three additional reds that would come after so : 321 reds, 212 Green, 35 yellows
