Can you tell what type of ecological interaction is this? --A Sparrow eating a seed-- Predator , Mutualism , Commensalism or any other ? Also there is a statement in my textbook "A sparrow eating any seed is no less a predator" . What is the meaning of this statement ? Does it suggest that it is predation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A sparrow eating a seed is being a predator.

OpenStudy (anoop27):

I don't think taht sparrow act here as predator

OpenStudy (dean.shyy):

The answer is PREDATOR. As for the meaning of the quote you listed, it suggests that anything is predation when something goes after something else that is powerless. That is the whole idea behind predation, where a stronger something takes on a weaker something else. In this case, it is the powerful Sparrow versus the helpless Seed.
