What is the remainder of (x3 – 6x – 9x + 3) ÷ (x - 3)? A. -51 B. -51 x - 3 C. -17 x D. -17 x - 3

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

use the remainder theorem - are you famiilar with that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nope, not at all

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

its says that if you divide a polynomial f(x) by (x - a) then the remainder is f(a) in other words , in your question the remainder is f(3) that means you can find the remainder by plugging in x = 3 into your expression and working it out.

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

(3)^3 - 6(3) etc

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So that would be 27 - 18 = 9?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@cwrw238

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

no its 27 - 18 - 27 + 3 = -15
