plz help !

954 inches sq.

OpenStudy (anikhalder):

The figure is comprised of 4 congruent triangles each with : base(b)=6in altitude(a)=7.5in Area of a triangle=\[a \times b \times \frac{ 1 }{ 2}\] Hence area of each triangle= \[7.5\times6\times \frac{ 1 }{ 2}\] =22.5 sq in. Therefore area of 4 such triangle(or the figure itself)= \[22.5\times4=90\] Answer=90 sq. in If any problem in understanding the explanation please tell me.

5. What is the area of the figure below? (1 point) 7.5 m² 15 m² 21.25 m² 42.5 m²

OpenStudy (anikhalder):

okay..just a few mins please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok im waiting

OpenStudy (anikhalder):

By congruency we shall find that the 2 triangles in the upper half of the figure and the 2 triangles in the lower half are respectively congruent. So 1 triangle in the upper half= base=2.5 m altitute=2.5m too (isosceles triangle..hence base and height are of same length) area=2.5\[2.5\times2.5\times \frac{ 1 }{ 2}=3.125\] 2 such triangles in the upper half= 3.125 * 2= 6.25 sq m. 1 triangle in the lower half= base=2.5 m altitute=6m area=7.5 sq m 2 such triangles in the upper half= 7.5 * 2= 15 sq m Therefore total area of figure= 6.25+15= 21.25 sq m Sorry for the wait

thanks alot :)
