The first has solutions of +/- 4, while the second has the solution of 4 with a multiplicity (or in other words, occurrence of) 2. They both have 4 as a solution, but only the first has the solution of -4. Also, the first one is the factor form of a perfect square binomial, while the other is a trinomial.
