OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which of the following is NOT a natural disaster caused by El Nino? Floods Droughts Malaria Famine Medals given :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ire but I think it is Droughts

OpenStudy (anonymous):

*I'm not sure*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"Droughts" is correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Never mind after doing some research I believe it is either malaria or famine

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait it is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is not what I found when I did some research

OpenStudy (anonymous):

El Niño can cause floods, which wipes out food sources; therefore, it can cause famine. It brings excessive rainfall, so there wouldn't be any droughts. Also, I don't think malaria and famine are "natural" disasters, are they?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I dont know

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'd choose droughts, carlaelaine.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah same

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Malaria should be the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

el nino takes away water from one side and gives it to another site so it causes droughts but for malaria it is a secondary effect and not entirely natural so you got= your answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Diseases, like malaria, are entirely natural. In forensic science, if someone dies from a disease, we do say that they died of natural causes. And if they spread far and wide enough to be called an "epidemic" or "pandemic," we could label them disasters. I would go with drought.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@InYourHead just look at this i decided to check it out http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20110303115256AA9GeeJ

OpenStudy (anonymous):

https://apps.who.int/inf-fs/en/fact192.html

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@InYourHead just maybe the internet supports me ,i dont know but i think it likes me. i ll take him on a date.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Quite frankly I don't give a crap about yahoo answers, or chacha. We could get 100 different answers to the same question, from those sites. And nothing would set apart the correct answer. But I was interested in the THIRD link that you posted. This one: https://apps.who.int/inf-fs/en/fact192.html It's an actual article from the World Health Organization. One that's ACTUALLY credible. And it's interesting: the article tells us that floods, drought, malaria, and famine are ALL brought on by El Niño.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

These are the kinds of questions and answers that we see on Yahoo: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_BfU33pZ437M/TUsfmXt1a5I/AAAAAAAAB2k/03IpP67NmSw/s640/yahoo+answers+funny+21.png Think about that, the next time you feel like citing yahoo answers as a reliable source of information.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@InYourHead that was so funny that is true the first gave both our answers to me it is not very possible malaria can be one of them

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Why not?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is a disease and i dont think it could be termed a direct natural disaster from El nino

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Diseases are natural.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No we know how malaria comes about the female anopheles mosquito and this cant entirely be related to El nono

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What are the four types of Manners of Death?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have no idea

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Research it. You're so good at researching aren't you? Look on Yahoo answers if you need to.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i dont visit yahoo answers that is why i took this one there because i knew some people must have attempted these question too

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there is almost no new question we ll be seing today you can see those answers were like 3 years old there is an answer to this question and it is there somewhere

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1. Homicide 2. Suicide 3. Accidental 4. Natural causes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Floods, droughts, malaria, famine, all four of those things can kill people. Yes?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you now the question here is am i RIGHT OR ARE YOU RIGHT ABOUT THE Q ABOVE

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If someone dies in a car crash, which manner of death is it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh humor me. Quite frankly I don't care if you get the answer to your question. But you will if you follow along with me.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

accidental

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How about if someone gets shot? Which manner of death would that be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

homicide

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay. That's right. Now, how about if someone dies from the flu?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

he is a morone but i ll say natural

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lots and lots of people die from the flu. Every year, up to 500,000 people around the world. But yes, it is natural.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if i ll say suicide if he refused to see the doctor Just messing with you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How about malaria? What if someone dies from malaria?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a morone too but natural

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is there a reason for why you tell me that malaria isn't natural?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

By the way, it's "moron."

OpenStudy (anonymous):

natural in relation to El nino is the point not just natural on its own

OpenStudy (anonymous):

MORONE IS from my dictionary

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then you're not using an English dictionary. Here, take this one: http://dictionary.reference.com/ Try looking up both "morone" and "moron." And you can decide which one you're talking about.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

moron is the one i am talking about

OpenStudy (anonymous):

who on earth pays attention to that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh ohh i know someone who does @InYourHead does she does ohhhh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I pay attention to a lot more than that, and believe me, you're not the most fluent English speaker in the world. ~~~~~~~~~ Again, I did like one of the articles that you sent me. https://apps.who.int/inf-fs/en/fact192.html The only one that didn't come from Yahoo or ChaCha. The article clearly tells us that all floods, famine, malaria, and drought are all brought on by El Nino. It even talks about malaria epidemics. And if that isn't considered a natural disaster, I don't know what is.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i accept your point and i ll love to accept you re right but please just GIVE ME SOME TIME TO CONSIDER THE ANSWER AND SEE IF MY MIND CAN ACCEPT THAT

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You can take all the time you want. I said "droughts" and my answer was wrong. After reading the article that you posted, I can't really tell which answer the question is looking for.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Aside from the topic, though: I think our cultural differences are very fascinating. Your culture, and my own. More precisely, I'm having a hard time predicting what would offend you, and what would not.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Droughts might not be so natural after all i ve looked at the answers again and you just might be right i just want you to think of natural in this sense as "spontaneous" ,i am not very good at english ans so the word in quotes is kind of like an idea of what i am trying to say THAT IS SOMETHING THAT IS A DISASTER (DEFINITION) AND OCCURS IN A KINDA SPONTANEOUS WAY

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You're from an Arabic culture, aren't you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

My answer was wrong. And please don't make me defend that point. That would be ridiculous.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I AM NOT OFFENDED BY ANYTHING YOU SAY I JUST LIKE SOUNDING OFFENDED BUT I NEVER GET OFFENDED YOU PISS ME OFF JUST MESSING WITH YOU

OpenStudy (anonymous):

SARCASM IS MY THING AND I AM A MELANIN FILLED INDIVIDUAL

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Melanin? ....That's skin and hair pigmentation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

YEAH YOU GET IT RIGHT GLORY TO ALLAH

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Right. Arabic and American culture. Very different from one another. Including what causes people to become angry and offended. It's interesting. But now's not the time to talk about it, I know.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

today is kinda my off day i actually got a question right in my quiz but couldnt answer it here i am really not so happy abt it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What question? This question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i ll send it to you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Color blindness is a sex-linked recessive trait. A mother with normal color vision and a color blind father have a color blind daughter. Which statement is true about the offspring? A) All of their daughters must be color blind. B) Some of their sons can have normal color vision. C) Their daughters might carry a gene for color blindness. D) All of their sons will carry a gene for color blindness.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

honestly my eyes hurt and it gives me headache sometimes i am always on the computer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So the answer's C, yes?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wait....their daughters would DEFINITELY carry a colorblind gene, since the dad has color blindness.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i just got accepted into an MPH prog can i have your full support most of the times when you are free

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer is B i took A because my eyes hurt and i was reading color blindness as dorminant

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think the answer's actually B. Some sons will be colorblind, and some will have normal vision. But ALL daughters would at least carry the gene, and some would be color blind.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, okay. That's good.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

of course you re right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got it wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Mistakes happen. I'm going to leave this chat, before it gets too overcrowded with comments that do not matter to the question.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

of course my MPH your hand

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A Master of Public Health? That's nice. You can post questions in this Biology section anytime. I'll come by and take a look when I have time.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks
