How is solving a two-step equation like solving one-step equation? How is solving them different?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Problem # 2) Example B is a one step equation because all you have to do is subtract the 3 from both sides. The answer CANNOT be Example A because first you would have to subtract the 3 from both sides and then divide the whole equation by 2. (This would be two steps, thus, it cannot be Example A)
