3. Determine which ordered pair is a solution of y = –5x + 10. (1 point) (–15, 5) (2, 0) (–1, –5) (3, 25)

guess and check.. just plug in each individual value and see which one is true.

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

substitute each ordered pair to find the solution.

subsitute?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

the 1st ordered pair has x = -15 and y = 5 so you set the equation by replacing the letter with the number... is 5 = -5 *(-15) + 10..............yes or no... next pair x = 2 y = 0 is 0 = -5 * 2 + 10 ............ yes or no the process is known as substitution.
