OpenStudy (dumbsearch2):

I would like to know, step by step, how to factor this trinomial: 24x^2+6x-30

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

each term contains a multiple of 6... so that means 6 is a common factor 6(4x^2 + x - 5) in this question multiply the coefficient of x^2 and the constant 4 * -5 = -20 then find the factors of -20 that add to 1...... 5, -4 6(4x + 4)(4x + 5) ----------------------------- 4 you'll find there is a common factor in the binomials that can cancel.. 6*4(x + 1)(4x + 5) ----------------- 4 cancel the 4 leaves 6(x + 1)(4x + 5)

hah thx guys i gave ze medal ;)
