FREEDOM FOR PROTECTION = SOCIAL CONTRACT (a trade) in terms of a contract, there is a transaction in which the involved peoples or parties make a trade. Without government there is total freedom for everyone to do as they like. So, if BOB has a ring, TED is free to steal it. BOB can try to prevent his ring from being stolen, but what if TED is stronger than BOB? Then there is nothing that can protect the ring from being stolen. So, people give up total freedom so that they can receive protection from the government
Is this for AP history?
