Dorothy ran 6 times around a circular track that has a diameter of 47 m. Approximately how far did she run? Use π = 3.14 and round your answer to the nearest meter.

OpenStudy (anikhalder):

First calulate circumference of circular track with 2(pi)r Total distance run= 6 times the circumference =6x2(pi)r =885.48 metres =nearest to 885 metres..I presume so.. @UmmmHELP ...what do you think?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah here is what I did (3.14) * (47 meters) = 148.52 meters ran around 6 times so then 148.52 meters * 6 = 891.12 meters

OpenStudy (anikhalder):

@UmmmHELP 3.14 x diameter will give us what? can you please tell me that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay sorry i was off on my calculations it would be 147.58

@anikhalder

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so yes your number sounds better my apologies

OpenStudy (anikhalder):

:) Hey Hey..no apologies at all..actually I myself was confused with pi x diameter..what is that..now i figured it out that its pi x 2r...silly me.. @UmmmHELP ..sorry for the trouble

haha its fine
