Given f (x) = – x2 + x + 2 and g(x) = , find the following: a. f ∘ g(x) b. g ∘ f(x) c. g ∘ f(-1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is your g(x)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oops √2x+3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So what you want to do is plug in one function into every x-value in the other function. For example, for a. you would do \[f∘g(x) = -(\sqrt{2x+3})^2 + (\sqrt{2x+3}) ^2 + 2\] and you could simplify Also, I am not sure if that is your g(x) or if it was meant to me sqrt(2x) + 3 or sqrt(2x+3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sqrt(2x) + 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no.... actually it is the latter... sqrt(2x+3)
