britain forced china to trade opium causing opium addiction in china. China tried to stop britain from trading opium went to war twice for it. After that they were forced to agree to treaty of tientsin which allowed foreigners to travel within China and opened more trade ports in China

OK, so some disadvantages: China became addicted to opium, which obviously wasn't great. That sparked repeated violence, which probably disrupted the economy and lives of the people. And it sounds like the treaty wasn't the best thing for China. So that takes care of your disadvantage section. What about advantages? Did the trading help China's economy at all? Did they get anything out of it that they wouldn't have if they had never had contact with western countries?
Also, how did imperialism connect to trade relations?
