How do you know what nouns or pronuns modify an adjective

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Adjective modify nouns... as in "the blue sky" "she had curly hair" or "a glassy lake." Pronouns are words that fill in for nouns, like she, he, we, you, it, us, him, her, them. Adverbs modify verbs and in English, often end in -ly. "Mary had a pair of gray shoes. She ran quickly." Mary is a noun. Gray is an adjective and describes the shoes (another noun). She is a pronoun filling in for Mary. Ran is a verb and quickly is an adverb telling you how she ran.

I don't believe there are any nouns that modify an adjective- as shruti said, it's the other way round.
