Find the mean, median, outlier, and mode. 1. 1 29 33 31 30 33 Can you go through each one with me? [:
Do you know what each means?
Finding the mean means to find the middle value after all of the #'s are in order from least to greatest. Uhmmmm I think I'm supposed to get the average of the values by adding them for the mean, and that's all I pretty much remember.
Okay. Yes, mean means find the average. To find the mean you would simply add all numbers and divide your answer by two. What do you get?
Median means middle. To find your median you would put your numbers in order from smallest to largest and find the middle number. Since there is an even number of numbers you will find the two middle numbers, add them, and divide your answer by two. That will give you your median.
The meaning of outlier is a value either much larger or smaller than the other data. So, say these are your #s in your set of data: 2, 3, 1, 4, 45. 45 would be the outlier because it's way different than all of the #s
And the mode is simply the number which appears most often. So, say these are your #'s in your set of data: 2, 4, 3, 1, 4, 45. 4 would be your mode since it is listed more than once.
Have I made any sense?
Mean : 18.5 Median: Since 30 and 31 are in the middle, would I subtract them? Mode:33 Outlier: 1 Yes, thank you.
