difference of efffect and affect ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

affect means to alter or change, while effect means the result of something altering or changing

This is a really great, easy-to-understand article that explains the difference really well http://grammar.quickanddirtytips.com/affect-versus-effect.aspx

Affect means to change or to influence. Effect means as a result or consequence. If you are talking about a result, then use the word "effect."

Common Errors in English Usage is one of my favorite sites. Click on http://public.wsu.edu/~brians/errors/index.html to get there and then on "Go to list of errors." You will see affect/effect. Click on affect/effect to view a thorough discussion of the two words.
