OpenStudy (taepoohwae):

Can someone please show me how to solve this problem y^2+72 step by step by factoring the sum and difference of cube so that I have a better understanding? Betore asking, no I do not know what to do.

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

so is the question \[y^3 + 72\] since you are talking about sum and difference of cubes

OpenStudy (taepoohwae):

y^2+72

OpenStudy (mertsj):

It is NOT the sum of cubes because y^2 is not a cube and neither is 72

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

\[y^2+72 \] you can only solve this if you use complex numbers, there are no real solutions. And as mertsj said, it is definitely not a sum or difference of cubes.

OpenStudy (taepoohwae):

thanks

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

(assuming it's equal to zero)
