Suppose right triangle ABC has one acute angle 47º. Suppose also that right triangle DEF has an acute angle 43º. How are triangles ABC and DEF related?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

similar triangles?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

\(\triangle ABC \sim \triangle DEF\) why ?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

use angle sum of a triangle to prove the triangles are similar by Angle Angle Postulate P.S. always good to draw a picture |dw:1364072080686:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Triangles ABC and DEF are similar by AAA, because they each have angles 90º, 43º, and 47º.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

correct r no?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@campbell_st

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

thats correct... the angle x in triangle ABC is 43... by angle sum of a triangle. the angle y in triangle is 47 by angle sum of a triangle... so they are similar by AA postulate.
