yeah but what strategy should I use I can't recognize which operations to perform and I've been playing with all of question 8 for a while

maybe if I could understand the thought process I could get problem like this myself without having to look at the answer key

usually you should start with the "more complicated" side and work (or simplify) to the side that's "less complicated". then if you can't decide which side is more complicated, just pick any side and work your way to the other. finally, if both sides seem equally complicated, work with one side and try to simplify as much as you can and do the same with the other side and work to the same place you ended with the other side.
