The most commonly recycled materials are plastics and paper-products. If you have a recycling system in your area, I'm sure they have a list of all the items that you can and cannot put in the recycling bins. Take a look at the list: it should give you a good idea of the kinds of and specific materials that can be recycled.
Outside of recycling systems, people can recycle or reuse just about anything! People have ...taken old cassette tapes and recycled them into purses....painted and arranged roadside debris into art... cut and knotted plastic bags into dish sponges... burned and painted pieces of scrap-metal into beautiful decor... repurposed an old T-shirt and turned it into an new and awesome-looking shirt...you get the idea!
