A parabola whose equation is y = (x - 5)2 - 2 has a vertex at _____. I got (-5,2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you have the right numbers but not the right signs.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay what sign is rong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is it (-5,-2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well when you are taking the points it is the constant in the parentheses and the constant outside by its self. The sign that is in front of the constant outside the parentheses is always the sign that it has in front of it, but the constant inside the parentheses is always the opposite of the sign in front of it. Does that make sense? Making (5,-2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok good.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can u check my other one
