Look at the figure. Triangle PQR has the measure of angle PRQ equal to 30 degrees. S is a point on side PR. Points Q and S are joined by a straight line. Angle PQS measures 30 degrees. Make a two-column proof showing statements and reasons to prove that triangle PRQ is similar to triangle PQS.

we ll what all do you notice that are similiar in the two triangles @Muddingirl ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the angles are similar? @AravindG

OpenStudy (aravindg):

yep anything else ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

um they share angle Q @AravindG

OpenStudy (aravindg):

nope ..thats not true ..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

umm, im not sure

OpenStudy (aravindg):

ok forget the angles ..do you see any sides that are common ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

QS?

OpenStudy (aravindg):

nope !! its PQ!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh sorry, i can see that

OpenStudy (aravindg):

A lso note that angle P is common to both .Hence by ASA theorem the triangles are similiar
