On a given day, the flow rate F (cars per hour) on a congested roadway is given by F=v/28+0.07v^2 where v is the speed of the traffic in miles per hour. What speed will maximize the flow rate on the road? Round your answer to the nearest mile per hour.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the options are A.10 mph B. 17 mph C. 20 mph D.18 mph E.19 mph

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

to maximize F(v) , find vertex of parabola given by curve F(v) hmm is the function typed correctly? vertex would give a minimum , not maximum thus there is no maximum ..... higher the speed, higher the flow rate

OpenStudy (anonymous):

here is how the equation is suppose to look..

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

doesn't show...brings up logon screen you would need to take a screen shot

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im sorry how do i do that?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

there is button "PrtSc" on top of keyboard, just right of "F12" key it copies the entire screen, then you need to paste into paint then attach to post
