OpenStudy (agent0smith):

Make a table of values, using something like x= -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, y = ........................... Then plot the points.

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

True that.

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=4ax^2 is the basic equation , you put different values of a, you get different parabolas, with different focuses and directrix and other things.

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hmm. Here we study x^2=4ay and y^2=4ax as the basic equations.

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

@RnR usually when it's in the form x^2=4ay and y^2=4ax, they use p instead of a... x^2=4py and y^2=4px, so that in nincompoop's equations, a = 1/(4p)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sure.

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

I am going to add more for @AriPotta
