y=4ax^2 is the basic equation , you put different values of a, you get different parabolas, with different focuses and directrix and other things.
Hmm. Here we study x^2=4ay and y^2=4ax as the basic equations.
@RnR usually when it's in the form x^2=4ay and y^2=4ax, they use p instead of a... x^2=4py and y^2=4px, so that in nincompoop's equations, a = 1/(4p)
