A supply plane needs to drop a package of food to scientists working on a glacier in Greenland. The plane flies 140m above the glacier at a speed of 200m/s .How far short of the target should it drop the package?

OpenStudy (kfujioka):

Hi. You have any idea where to start with this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not at all thats why i need help.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

639.2m i guess

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No it was incorrect. Thank you though.

OpenStudy (kfujioka):

I'd first break it down into two steps. There's the package falling and there's the movement forward.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry to interrupt with my guesses, but is it 534m ????

OpenStudy (kfujioka):

What would you like to find to help you answer the question? Suppose I told you that the package spent 0.5 seconds in the air, period. Would you be able to tell me when they should drop it then?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No i got the right answer.. since i been trying for the longest. 1070m I honestly would have never guessed that. But i kinda don't need help with this now. Sorry. Thank you both so much though.
