(-cos^2xtanx)/(sinx)=-cosx

OpenStudy (mertsj):

What? You're supposed to prove this is true?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, and I need help!

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Try replacing tan with sin/cos and see where that leads.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, Ill try it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im stuck at -(1-sin^2x)( sin/cos)/sinx

OpenStudy (mertsj):

No. Leave the -cos^2 alone. Then you can cancel.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, I did that and i was left with (-cosxsinx)/sinx. So then the sins cancel out?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

yes.

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Good job.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, thank you so much! That helped a lot.

OpenStudy (mertsj):
