Find all the solutions in the interval [0,2pi) of the equation 3cos^2 x + cosx =1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

start with the substitution \(\cos x=u\) you'd now have \(3u^2+u-1=0\) <----- good till here? solve it for two values of "u" then replace "u" by cosine and find "x" kapeesh?

im still not getting it @electrokid

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you understand till the part maked?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes @electrokid
