f figure ABDC ~ figure JKLM, which of the following completes this proportion? AB/CD = JK/?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A ML B KL C MK

mathslover (mathslover):

which side is correspondent to CD ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ML right

mathslover (mathslover):

Yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

We know the figure are some quadrilaterals with equal angles and parallel sides, rectangles to be more specific. We know that similar figures maintain their side to side ratios. So AB / CD would be the same as saying JK/ the side that's in the same position as CD in the larger triangle. Can you tell me which side that would be? @cutiexoxo1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its ML

mathslover (mathslover):

So : \(\cfrac{AB}{CD} = \cfrac{JK}{\textbf{correspondent side to CD}}\)

mathslover (mathslover):

that is it @cutiexoxo1 .. \(\cfrac{AB}{CD} = \cfrac{JK}{ML}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@cutiexoxo1 Sorry I meant to say rectangle in place of the word triangle in the second paragraph of my previous reply.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Correct. It is ML.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is the answer ML

mathslover (mathslover):

yes @cutiexoxo1 \(\textbf{good work}\)
