But using the slope-intercept method, as I understood it, there is no need for the x-intercept, since you only need the y-intercept, and the slope :D

Nope... because that's a natural step in getting the line, using the slope-intercept method.
In drawing a line, it always involves drawing a line through two points...
Now, in slope-intercept method, only the y-intercept is necessary, and the slope, which is accounted for by step D.
