432, 455, 280, 216, 353, 387, 119, 293, 241, 460, 389, 121, 142 Find the first and third quartiles of the data set.
@pooja195
help please
ok so do u need the median then?
i got the median
median is 293
i need help finding the first and third quartiles
First, arrange the numbers in order. Then split the numbers into two equal groups, two halves. This set of numbers is odd, n = 13, so you can include the median (try to find it) number in both groups. The lower quartile (Q1) is the median of the lower half, and the upper (Q3) quartile is the median of the upper half. Note: The median of an even set of numbers would be the average of its two middle values.
can u help me do it please
119, 121, 142, 216, 241, 280, 293, 353,387, 389, 432, 455,460 The median is 293. The first quartile is the median of the bottom half of the numbers. there are two middle numbers to the bottom half, so take those numbers and add them, then divide them by 2 to get the first quartile. (142 + 216) / 2 = 179 <--- first quartile The third quartile would be found the same way... (389 + 432) / 2 = 410.5 <--- third quartile Do you understand ? If not, let me know and I will try to explain it better :)
