its easier for me to keep track of if the question is posted in the same window ... otherwise i tend to mix things up more than usual

OpenStudy (amistre64):

what have you tried to work up so far?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

since distance is equal to speed times time bus speed times time b, plus train speed times time t = 600km time a + time b = 9 hours we are given that the bus speed is train speed - 20 km/hr

OpenStudy (amistre64):

we also have the condition that the bus traveled 3/5 of the way and the train traveled 2/5 of the way

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the bus travels 600*3/5 = 360 km the train travels 600*2/5 = 240 km speed x time = distance (train - 20) b = 360 train a = 240 a + b = 9 these can be used to solve it
