What change was often seen in the physical arrangement of plantations after the Civil War? The land was divided into smaller plots with housing for sharecroppers. They increased in size and added more housing for slaves. Slave quarters were destroyed and all housing became concentrated near the main house. They were divided in half with half of the land being given to the former slaves.
