Find the charge to make a long distance telephone call at night if tht night rate is 60% less than theday rate, and the cost to make the call in the daytime is $12.50.

If the cost is 60% less at night wouldn't that mean you don't have to pay 60% of the cost but you DO have to pay 40%?

The answer is yes. Take 40% of the daytime rate. That will be the night time rate.
